What Kind of Oil Does a Kubota Lawn Mower Use?

If you have a Kubota lawn mower, you have likely wondered what kind of oil it uses. The simple answer is, it uses Kubota-produced 15W-40, 10W-30, and SAE30 engine oil. Kubota also produces hydraulic oil, gear oil, and other lubricants.

Every oil Kubota produces is suitable for use with naturally aspirated, turbocharged, and supercharged diesel engines. So, not only are these oils suitable for your Kubota machinery maintenance, but they are also suitable for any other diesel engine.

According to Kubota's operator manual for the North American market, the oil used in the engine should have the following:

Why Choose Kubota Engine Oil?

An industrial engine needs oil to run consistently. Performance can be impacted by even the slightest alteration in viscosity or other characteristics.

Bad oil causes substantial part wear, decreased engine longevity, and decreased power and efficiency. Kubota oil is designed to work most efficiently with the industrial engines produced by the company.

Kubota oil provides the following:

  • Lubrication Kubota oil helps an engine run more smoothly by circulating through the engine and lubricating pistons, bearings, and other moving parts.
  • Heat Resistance even when your engine is operating at a high load, Kubota oil will continue to have the appropriate viscosity in severe weather conditions with little to no degradation.
  • Cleaning and Dispersion Kubota oil reduces pollution and cleans your engine by absorbing soot and tiny particles as your engine runs.
  • Sealing – Kubota oil keeps the engine's seal firm and stops leaks.

When combined, these advantages result in decreased wear and tear, longer part life, lower emissions, and increased efficiency. Kubota engine oil will function optimally during the oil change interval.

How to Change Oil in Kubota Lawn Mower?

It is vital to maintain regular check-ups and equipment maintenance to ensure proper operation. For instance, one of Kubota's most sought-after lawn mower series, the Zero Turn, requires a regular oil change, along with all other Kubota lawn mowers.

Otherwise, the engine may suffer damage, its lifespan may be shortened, and subsequent maintenance issues may arise from dirty oil. It is advised that you change your mower's oil once a year or after 100 hours of use, whichever occurs first.

  1. Make sure the engine cools down before changing the oil.
  2. To ensure no dirt or debris gets in the engine, clean the area around the oil-fill dipstick before you remove it.
  3. Remove the drain plug and oil-level dipstick after unhooking the drain pipe and pointing it downward. If the engine is warm, draining the used oil will be easier.
  4. Reinstall the drain plug and put the hose back on the hook once all of the used oil has been drained. You should ensure that the drain plug is tightened to 13.6 N-m (10 lb-ft) torque.
  5. Add fresh oil until the dipstick's upper level is reached. There is an "F" mark on the dipstick, so you know where to fill up the crankcase with oil.

Be cautious not to overfill when changing your oil. This may lead to just as many issues as filling the oil improperly.

How to Check Oil in Kubota Lawn Mower?

Whether you are doing routine maintenance or looking to change oil after 100 hours of use, you must first check the level with the dipstick before adding more oil. In order to do this, you will need to do the following:

  1. To check the oil level, take out the dipstick, clean it, then put it back in and pull it out
  2. Make sure the oil level is between the two marks
  3. If you need to, refill the oil
  4. Next, reinstall the oil fill cap and tighten it securely
  5. Lastly, reinstall the dipstick
