"Ed" Wickham was a sales representative for Caterpillar Corporation in
northeastern Colorado back in the dry days of the 1930s and '40s when
times were hard. During the war, times were even harder, since all
equipment was allocated and in short supply. But he understood the needs
of the farmers and developed close business relationships with them. In
the '50s, Ed went into dryland wheat farming himself, along with his three
sons, but chose to move back into agricultural service full-time by
selling his farm and opening the doors of Wickham Tractor Company with his
sons Don and Homer in 1960.
